7 . History repeats itself

Sue fell asleep , tired from all the crying. Her nose was red and her eyes sore from all the sobbing. All that was happening with her seemed a bit familiar but she wasn't quite sure about this feeling. The house was still and everything was quite. The rush outside had died and it was deserted outside , one could hear nothing but the rustling of leaves as the wind passed by.

Sue found herself in an odd but familiar place. She thought she had fallen asleep a while ago but there she was , in a place that she could never forget. It was her Grandpa's old mansion where she had spent her childhood.Unsure of what to do Sue roamed in the mansion letting all the memories bathe her. And then she saw the wooden chest on her Grandpa's study lying undisturbed. She remembered how mad her Grandpa became when she tried to open that chest when she was younger. She was quite a curious little kid back then. She always wanted to open the chest and see what was inside that was so dear to her Grandpa but , she never dared to open it considering how dear it was to him.She didn't want to get on his bad side. She loved her Grandpa and respected his decisions and thus had left the thought of ever opening the mysterious chest.
After losing her parents in a landslide mishap, she was raised by her Grandparents with utmost care and affection. She loved them too with her entire heart. Her grandpa was very fond of her and was a very cheerful person. He was her guiding light of all time. A fragment of memory hit her about how happy he was when she had brought him a crucifix on his 75th birthday. That's right , her grandfather was fond of collecting crucifixes and other holy stuff. Although her grandma never approved of his unusual interest, he insisted on collecting them. Everything was going on smooth until one day when .......................................her grandma was brutally murdered while Sue and her grandfather were at the church. Sue had noticed a serpent like figure on the window of the church while others did not. No one believed her except her Grandpa .......... when enquired about it , the priest told them it was a sign of bad luck. He also handed them a vial of holy water and asked to be careful on their way home.
When they got home, there were lot of police cars standing at their door and a huge mob of people had encircled their house. Sue was scared at the sight of so many people and clinged on to her grandpa's coat. Her grandpa left her with a trusted neighbor and pushed through the crowd to go inside and see what was wrong. Sue could remember his sad , pale face at the funeral of her grandma. The murderer was never found and the case was closed. Not long after that her grandpa sold that mansion and moved on to another town with her. He could not bear staying in that same place anymore as it bought horrifying nightmares every night.

Sue never found how her grandma was murdered and she never dared to ask her grandpa as whenever they talked about her grandma it would cause an emotional breakdown . Her grandpa passed away 4 years after her grandma and Sue was left alone once again. She faced a lot of psychological  trauma  after that but eventually she overcame it. She could feel tears roll over her face as she stared at the wooden chest that her grandpa treasured. Determined , she wiped away her tears and opened the box...............................................only to find it empty. The wooden chest was a case of  a missing crucifix . Her grandpa used to nail all the crucifix that he collected on the wall , he never used to keep them closed in a box...... She picked up the case and walked towards the wall of crucifix  trying to figure out which one belonged to this case. There were total 12 crucifixes on the wall but none of them was of the size that could fit in that case. Some were too small while some were too big. The box was the proof that her grandpa owned 13 crucifixes but then where was the last one ? She stared at the box as she moved her fingers on the hollow part where the crucifix was supposed to be kept and then she remembered the Crucifix that she had bought....................................... It was of the perfect size and shape. Also the serpent mark on the box matched the one on the crucifix and one on her neck............. And then everything started making sense ...............................................................
Her grandma was killed by the same phantom as the day she was killed was 1 day prior to lunar eclipse.  It seemed like the history was repeating itself.............................................
